Squash and Racquet Club Update - Squash Courts Reopening
We are very pleased to say that we have now confirmed a date for the reopening of the Squash Centre. The centre will open from Monday 17th August. Please see below for some important notes that all members should be aware of.

Booking Courts
Bookings can be made in the usual way via MyCourts. When signing in you will notice that court times are now staggered. This is to reduce crossover between players in the communal areas. Courts 1, 2 and 4 will operate on slightly reduced hours during the first two weeks after reopening. Court 3 will remain closed during this period. The centre will be closed on Monday 31st August. All 4 courts will return to normal opening hours from Tuesday 1st September.

As ever, all usage must be pre-booked. Members will not need to sign in on arrival at the centre, and may head straight to their booked court.

All members should note that playing time for each booking slot is now 40 minutes. The booked hour should consist of 40 minutes playing time and 5 minutes to wipe down touch points on the court (eg. door handles). Players must vacate the court for the final 15 minutes of their booked slot to allow for air to circulate around the court.

Changing rooms
Members are asked to arrive at the centre ready to play. At the end of their booking, members should return home to shower and change. The changing rooms will be open to allow access to toilet facilities, but we do request that you do not use the showers or changing areas until further notice. Please do not use the benches to store clothing or equipment.

We're sorry, but the communal areas on the first floor, including the bar and sofas, remain out of bounds for now.

We do appreciate that these arrangements are not ideal, but hopefully all members will agree that it is best to be cautious at first, and open the centre in full when circumstances allow.

Ways to Play
We ask all members to familiarise themselves with the guidance below, as supplied by England Squash. Importantly, players from different households should not play "normal" squash games until further notice. Please see here for full details on how to play a modified version of squash if you would like to play against someone from outside your household or bubble.

Annual subscriptions will be due upon reopening. As explained in our last update, each member will find that credit has been added to their account to cover the cost of membership during the closure. This means the membership fees due will be reduced from the advertised rate.

The credit has been calculated by dividing the cost of your membership band by the number of days the courts are open each year. This daily rate has then been multiplied by the total number of days that the facility has been closed, to give a final figure. If you would like further detail please just drop us an email and we can provide you with the full calculation.

Please use the online credit/debit card payment facility within the MyCourts booking system to make your payment. Simply click the following link, login, click "Membership Subscription" on the left hand side, and follow the instructions.

If you've forgotten your login details, please use the 'Forgotten Password' process.

If the wrong membership category is showing please contact us before making your payment. Please note that members who have not paid their annual subscription by Monday 31st August will no longer be able to book courts or use the squash centre and tennis courts.

We would like to thank you all for your support and understanding during the closure.

As ever the team will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please either call us (01743 280625) or email sport@shrewsbury.org.uk
