Hi! I'm Ali Jafari. Professional Squash Coach here at Shropshire Squash Club. Let me tell you a little about my squash journey…

I started playing squash when I was 11 but I only really played for fun. My elder brother, Naz, was at the time playing tournament level squash at a really high standard and the more I watched him play, the better I wanted to get and the more I played!

Over the following years I entered more and more junior tournaments and my game really flourished. With coaching from some of the best names in the sport - Rob Owen, Chris Ryder and Jon Tate – I realised that if I put my mind and body into it, I could achieve and maintain a very high level of play. At 21 I really focussed on the game and worked hard towards achieving my professional world ranking.

I’ve actually been involved in coaching though since I was 19, when I completed my first coaching course. It’s always been a passion of mine as I believe that through teaching others is where we learn more about ourselves, and no matter how good you become you must always give back.

I’m a big believer in hard work and discipline, and no matter who you are, how old you are or what ability level you’re at currently, with the right guidance you can achieve your goals and targets as long as you try your best!

Outside of my squash playing/coaching life I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am a very out going person and always look forward to lively social gathering with friends and family. I do love sports and really enjoy playing football, cricket and tennis. However on my rest days if I’m not going out, I’m equally as likely top be found feet up, watching movies or the odd TV series or two! Right now, 'Suits' is by far my favourite!

Shropshire Squash Club has a fantastic range of players of all ages and I’m absolutely thrilled to be the professional coach here.

So arrange a session with me! From the basics to highly advanced play, I promise you that you’ll not only notice a difference quickly but you’ll also enjoy every minute of it, whatever your goals.

Level Two Coach

I  started to play squash in my late thirties and love the game both for the sport itself and the social side/club atmosphere that come along with it. I got involved in coaching when the club junior programme was initiated and took my level 1 and 2 coaching awards.

Level Two & Junior Coach

As a professional school teacher, I thoroughly enjoy putting my experience into practice when working with juniors. It's all about encouragement and fun! I've played squash for more years than I probably care to admit but every game still highlights further strengths and weaknesses. This is one of the compelling parts of the game...

Level One Coach

I've been playing squash on and off for over 30 years and I've been been a Junior Squash Coach for the last 7 years. I like to mix it up by playing Racketball and happy to give anybody a game to see how it plays compared to squash!! The club provides a fun and friendly route into either sport. Come and join in!
